Project with a Grindvävstol (small table loom)

The goal for this project is that with the help of a simple tool, you should be able to learn how to weave with instructive films and descriptions even for a beginner. A number of descriptions have been written up and with a simple structure description on how a warp arrangement and threading in the gate could look like.

Five films have been produced to describe the weave set and other elements of the gate loom.

We hope that weaving in Grindvävstol will be a well-known concept where simplicity is the focus. This can be achieved with our films and descriptions as support. The project has been carried out with the support of the Nämnden för Hemslöjdsfrågor.

Autumn residence 2021

The administration for cultural development in the region of Västra Götaland has given craftsmen space and time for artistic development by offering a two-week handicraft residence in Rydal collaborating with International Weaving Center Sjuhärad. In 2021 Vega Syversætre Johannessen was appointed. Between 20 September and 3 October the same year, Vega worked and experimented at International Weaving Center's studio in Rydal's old spinning mill. She exploreed the qualities of linen along with various crepe bindings. Its structures, luster and fall were examined! Vega has previously studied to be a textile designer at the School of Textiles in Borås and immersed herself in the art of hand weaving at Fristad Folkhögskola.

Collaboration and support

We have during 2021-2022 a collaboration with Art Center Sjuhärad; initiated by Boy Konsthall, Dreamfactory Uddebo, Contemporary Circus Festival Rydal and Rydals Museum . We are stronger if we work together and cooperating with each other, we ensure that more people can use the respective actors' programs. The initiative aims to contribute to a stronger cultural life in Sjuhärad. In the future we are planing to create a new form of weaving residence in cooperation. Exhibitions

Our exhibition "Väv i Sjuhärad" which was produced with funds we received from Sparbanksstiftelsen Sjuhärad. It is meant to be a touring exhibition around our region. It will be shown during the Halmstad 2022 Weaving Fair and travelling to Glasets Hus (The House of Glas) in Limmared after that.

November 2020 the association's publication "Weave in Sjuhärad" came from the printing house. Weavingcafés

This is where we get an opportunity to meet like-minded people and exchange ideas about weaving around the coffee table. Each occasion, we invite guests who have a story to share relating to their activities, experiences, anything relating to weaving.We are currently planing a Weaving trail so our next café will be arranged in a near future.
